Doctor of Philosophy in Health Systems and Policy (PhD)

The PhD in Health Systems and Policy (HSP) is designed for those who want to be academicians or researchers, and teaches students how to conduct rigorous research utilizing evidence-based practices, scientific theories, and methods. Students will examine access, cost, and quality of health care by understanding the structure, process, and outcomes of health systems. Degree Requirements

  • To qualify for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Health Systems and Policy, the student must complete a minimum of 54 semester hours of graduate coursework beyond the Master's degree.
  • No more than seven (7) credit hours in which a grade of C or below was earned will be counted toward degree requirements.
  • Students must maintain an overall grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 on a 4.0 point scale.
  • A minimum of a 3.0 GPA is required for graduation, and grades of D or F will not apply toward the graduate degree.
